The Main Street Four-Point Approach

A community-driven, comprehensive strategy utilized to revitalize downtown and neighborhood business districts. It is a common-sense approach used to address a variety of issues and problems that challenge traditional business districts. The Hamilton District Main Street Program (HDMSP) is an initiative of the Allentown Chamber of Commerce and is governed by the Hamilton District Main Street Program and its committees. HDMSP Board of Directors and Organizational Development Committee

The Main Street Program is volunteer-driven. It involves building a Main Street framework that is well represented by business and property owners, citizens, public officials and other local economic development officials who have a vested interest in revitalizing our downtown. The Board of Directors oversees the strategy of the Hamilton District Main Street Program and its committees and focus on long-term sustainability and board and volunteer development. -Pastor Bob Stevens – Zion’s Church, Chair

Safe, Clean & Green Committee - Chair: Capt. Dan Wiedemann, APD

How safe and pleasant people perceive a residential area to be is arguably the most important factor in the neighborhood's health. The Safe, Clean & Green Committee is charged with planning and promoting safety and crime reduction, cleanliness and beautiy, litter control, graffiti removal and control, and maintaining public green spaces within the district.

Design Committee - Co-Chair: Julie Macomb, Norris McLaughlin & Marcus; Co-Chair: Matt Malozi, RETTEW Associates

Design means getting downtown into top physical shape. Capitalizing on its best assets such as historic buildings and the traditional downtown layout is just part of the story. An inviting atmosphere can be created through window displays, parking areas, signs, sidewalks, street lights, and landscaping; good design conveys a visual message about what Main Street is and what it has to offer.

Business Development Committee - Chair: Santo Napoli, assembly88

Business Development helps find new or better purposes for Main Street enterprises. Helping existing downtown businesses expand and recruiting new ones, a successful Main Street converts unused space into productive property and sharpens the competitiveness of its businesses.

Marketing Committee - Chair: Sean King, Aspire Consulting Group

The Marketing Committee sells the image and promise of Main Street to all prospects. By marketing the district's unique characteristics through advertising, retail promotional activities, special events, and marketing campaigns an effective promotion strategy forges a positive image to shoppers, investors, new businesses and visitors.
