You’ve been hearing about it for a while now, and the big day is just around the corner! Read up on a few things to do at the inaugural Allentown Beer Festival coming up on Saturday, August 27th.

1. Listen to some tunes

The Groove Merchants and Thunk will be filling Hamilton Street with music all afternoon.

The Groove Merchants are a high-energy blues/rock band. They’re proud to entertain audiences across PA and the mid-Atlantic with their funky "new kind of blues". The GM guys were a huge hit on the Bell Hall Stage at our Blues, Brews & Barbecue festival, and we’re excited to bring them back for Beer Fest!

Thunk brings you the songs you know and love – with a twist. The band maintains its unique character, a funk-inspired sound that mixes in jazz, fusion guitar, and even a little EDM, with every cover they perform. They’re sure to bring some fun to this festival!

2. Grab some grub

It’s going to be a long day of beer sampling, and we don’t want anyone to go hungry! Three local restaurants will be selling food right out on Hamilton Street throughout the festival. Bell Hall, grain. and The Hamilton Kitchen will each have some scrumptious sandwiches and more for you to pair with your endless beer samples.

3. Buy something beer-related

The Hamilton District’s own G&E Smoke Shop will be joining us out on the street. G&E offers a number of quality cigars and related products at affordable prices. They've been with us for many a Blues, Brews & Barbecue festival, and they will make an awesome addition to the Allentown Beer Fest! Stay tuned for information about additional vendors that might make an appearance.

4. Explore the retailers of downtown Allentown

We’re taking over the 600 block of Hamilton Street to throw this first-time festival, which means we’ll be surrounded by some of downtown Allentown’s newest retail shops. Stop into any of the stores in the 600 block, round the corner to explore the merchants on the ArtsWalk, and remember to check out our co-host’s bottle shop Cork & Cage down the street! For a full list of Hamilton District retailers to explore, take a look at our Attractions page.

5. And of course, sample over 50 craft beers!

Seriously, what more could you ask for? Over 30 of the finest local, regional, and national breweries are all coming together in downtown Allentown for the first time, and you have the chance to sample from each and every one of them! From local, Lehigh Valley favorites to nationally recognized brands, we have a brew for absolutely every beer lover. For more information, including a list of participating breweries, click here. You can also visit our Facebook page or our Untappd profile for an updated list of what’s on tap from each participating brewery. And remember, please sample responsibly.
