Allentown Celebrates 4th of July with Fireworks & Street Festival

Plenty of local venues boast 4th of July festivities but the City of Allentown is hosting one worth your time on Saturday July 4th from 5:30-10pm along Linden Street at J. Birney Crum Stadium. Truly having an activity for all ages, the event will include live music, family-friendly entertainment, delicious food options from local and regional food trucks and naturally a crowd-pleasing, fireworks spectacular.

Performances include XCAPE Hip Hop Dance Group, patriotic music by the Allentown Municipal Band and dance party music by the UUU Party Band. The Allentown Patriotic Pet Parade will also take place during the evening. Those interested can pre-register through Friends of Allentown Parks at or register on that day from 5:30-6:00pm with the parade occurring from 6:15-6:30pm. Prizes will be awarded for best Pet & Pal Combo, Best in Show and Most Patriotic Pet.

2015 will introduce a basketball skills competition for boys and girls ages 13-18 from 6:30-8:00pm. Individuals will compete in events like the 3-point shot, free-throws and 100-yard dash. Winners in each age category will receive a gift certificate to The Archive. Pre-register by calling the Recreation Office at 610.437.7757 or register that day between 5:30-6:15pm.

With all these events, attendees will be sure to work up an appetite and will not be disappointed in their options. Spread out throughout the festival will be vendors and trucks selling food for every palette. Popcorn Pit will offer kettle corn, popcorn and a variety of nuts. You can quench your thirst with Endless Concession’s fresh squeezed lemonade and orangeade or divulge in chocolate covered fruit, cannolis and cheesecake. The Bees Knees Grill can whip up a fresh gourmet grilled cheese or MMG can create a personalized made-to-order fresh wrap or taco salad. To cool off Kona Ice will serve an assortment of Hawaiian shaved ices.

Inside J. Birney Crum Stadium entertainment will commence at 6:00pm with the award-winning Scott Marshall Highway Band and the elite dancers of Sharon Plessl School of Dance. The Lehigh Valley Skydivers return to perform their bold jumps and Isabell Solano will lead us in singing the National Anthem.

Big kids can purchase their alcoholic beverages at the Linden Street Festival but make sure to celebrate responsibly!

The night will conclude with a fantastic fireworks display by Celebration Fireworks Inc. of Kutztown.
