History’s Headlines - The roots of ROAR

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

To say downtown Allentown has undergone a transformation would be an understatement. New buildings pierce the skyline, and people who have left only recently return to find a changed downtown. But sometimes what is new is really old.

Don Saylor, the well-known local restaurant owner, and his son David have recently become curious about the past of their new property, the ROAR Social House at 732 Hamilton Street.

It has a 1920s speakeasy/1930s supper club theme, accented by the big band hits that potential customers can hear from speakers over the front entrance.
