Places to Find Live Music in March

Date: Mar 09, 2016

Allentown has long been both a touring destination and a source of inspiration for musicians all over the country (here’s to you, Billy Joel). However, these days, a fresh crop of emerging artists are making their start right here in the Lehigh Valley.  This month, venues all over the Hamilton District will feature these local artists, giving our musicians a chance to showcase their skill, and YOU a chance to rock out-so what are you waiting for? Below are just a few places to tune in this month, but when it comes to “Livin’ Here in Allentown,” you’re never far from a jam session.

1. ROAR Social House

Staying true to its speakeasy style, ROAR will feature a new musician from around the Lehigh Valley every Friday and Saturday in March.  Past performers have included talented acts like Brian Fitzy and The New Constitution, but with a SideCar cocktail in one hand and great tunes on stage, you’ll be tempted to do the Charleston no matter who’s playing!

2. The Dime

With views overlooking the historic Hamilton Square, and an artfully-designed bar with room to spare, The Renaissance Hotel’s premier restaurant is the perfect venue for both up-and-coming performers and seasoned professionals.  This March, every Friday and Saturday, The Dime has booked a variety of local acts in their intimate, urban space.

3. Hook

Though this downtown favorite is known primarily for their fresh seafood and world-renowned goat cheese tartlet, The Hook Seafood and Grille will be whistling a different tune this month.  Now, every Wednesday evening, The Hook will invite a different Allentown musician into their bar to celebrate their new menu, the addition of a new chef to the team, and to give some of downtown’s (literally) unsung new artists a chance to shine.

4. Hamilton Kitchen

You might know Hamilton Kitchen only as a venue for pre-hockey libations, and their polar parties that thaw us out in dead of winter.  Now that spring has sprung, however, The Hamilton Kitchen promises to make March 17th our lucky day, with a St. Patrick’s Day live music event that isn’t to be missed!  Catch The Dynamic Duo, a two-person band that takes pride in going green, and treat yourself to a pint or two while you kick up your heels with festive music, and St. Patty’s fun!

Remember, the music doesn’t have to end when March does- stay tuned for “Blues, Brews and Barbecues” coming this June for more music right in the heart of downtown!
