Vince’s Famous Cheesesteaks Makes a Triumphant Return to Downtown

Starting this month, Allentown will welcome Vince’s Famous Cheesesteaks downtown for what promises to be the cheesiest homecoming in Lehigh Valley History.

On Monday, April 11th at 11am, join the Hamilton District Main Street Program to celebrate the grand opening of the eatery’s brand-new storefront at 804 West Hamilton.

Though cutting the ribbon on this sandwich shop marks a new beginning for owner Chris Cocca (grandson of founder Vince Cocca Sr.), this isn’t the first time Vince’s Cheesesteaks have been served up in the Queen City.  In fact, the recipe for the brand’s signature steak was dreamed up in the family basement at Seventh and Union over fifty years ago, and the resulting restaurant quickly became a local favorite for, “meat so tender the cows couldn’t walk.”

Since closing their flagship Allentown location, Vince’s Famous Cheesesteaks have been sold everywhere from drive-thrus and parking lots to concession stands and—most recently—a mobile food truck.  However, no matter where the famed hoagies are being slung, hungry customers line up out the door, earning Vince’s their recent title as the “Best Cheesesteaks in the Lehigh Valley” on the LV Happening List.  Now, with the Hamilton District bustling and new restaurants, shops, and galleries opening every day, the Cocca family is coming back to their roots, and we couldn’t be happier (or hungrier).
