Artist Reception: We Can Do It!

The Fine Art Galleries at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center invite the community to attend the artist reception for We Can Do It! feminist stitching by Barbara Schulman on February 27, 2020 from 6-8pm. The exhibit will be on display from February 25 through April 14, 2020 and is curated by Deborah Rabinsky.

Barbara Schulman is a mixed-media artist and a resident artist at Bethlehem’s Banana Factory. She holds an MFA in Fiberarts from Kent State University and was Professor of Art and head of the Fibers program at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania from 1992-2011. Her work is held in the collections of the Museum of Art and Design, American Express Company, Lock Haven University, Lehigh Valley Health Network, Allentown Art Museum and she has been featured in American Craft Magazine, Fiberarts Magazine, Surface Design Journal, among many others. Her work has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the Philippines, Downey Museum of Art, Allentown Art Museum, and the State Museum of Pennsylvania, and in many other venues around the world. 

We Can Do It! is an exhibition of feminist fiber arts. The exhibit includes various techniques from quilting to embroidery and beyond. In this exhibit, Schulman presents art as an expression of activism, which in our times is needed perhaps now more than ever.

Artist receptions at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center are sober social events. Alcohol will not be present.
