Gun Violence and the LGBTQ Community
Three LGBTQ celebrities are teaming up to headline for a virtual event to raise awareness and funds to support LGBTQ advocacy against gun violence. Peter Paige (Queer as Folk), Kevin McHale (GLEE), and Nicole Maines (Supergirl) will join the executive directors of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center and Guns Down America for an online event on July 9th.
“Five years ago, the attack at Pulse nightclub that brutally took away 49 LGBTQ lives was a wake-up call for many in the LGBTQ movement that we need to increase our advocacy against gun violence” said Adrian Shanker, Executive Director of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. “But since Pulse, LGBTQ people continue to be killed by gun violence. That’s why this conversation on July 9th is so important.”

“LGBTQ Americans are disproportionately impacted by gun violence and have led the fight in building safer communities with fewer guns,” said Igor Volsky, Executive Director of Guns Down America. “We’re so proud to partner with Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center to host an event focusing on how we can fight for stronger gun laws and raise the standard of gun ownership in the United States.”
