The Library at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center invite the community to participate in our December 2019 Community Book Discussion featuring A Cup of Water Under My Bed: A Memoir by Daisy Hernández, a lyrical coming of age memoir about migration, colonization, and what it means to grow up female in an immigrant home. Daisy sets out to defy the dictates of race and class that preoccupy her mother and tías, but dating women and transmen, and coming to identify as bisexual, leads her to unexpected questions. The Los Angeles Review of Books says “By the end of this beautiful book, Daisy Hernández, a queer American Latina, has threaded Spanish and English together to create an inimitable new language in a brave and brilliant negotiation of a multilingual world.”

The discussion will be facilitated by Mary Foltz. Free copies of the book are available for the first ten community members who sign up by emailing kathleen@bradburysullivancenter.org

This event is sponsored by Let’s Play Books and by Lehigh University’s Southside Initiative and Humanities Center.

This is a sober-social event at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. No alcohol will be served.
